In today's Gospel, the disciples struggle againststrong winds and rough waters as Jesus comes tothem walking on the sea. Fear grips them until they hear His reassuring words: "Take courage, it is do not be afraid."
Peter boldly steps out of the boat and walks toward Jesus, but when he focuses on the wind instead of the Lord, he begins to sink. Crying out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reaches out His hand and lifts him up.
This Gospel reminds us that the storms of life are inevitable, but we never face them alone. Like Peter, we can become overwhelmed by fear, uncertainty, illness, family struggles, or the many challenges of daily life. Yet Jesus continues to come to us with His message of hope and peace. He invites us to trust in His presence and to keep our eyes fixed on Him rather than on our fears.
Whenever we feel weak or discouraged, Peter’s simple prayer can become our own: “Lord, save me!” Christ never abandons those who call upon Him. His hand is always extended, ready to strengthen us and lead us safely through every storm.
May we place our confidence in the Lord each day, knowing that He is always with us, guiding us with His love and calling us to deeper faith.
