Trusting Jesus with What We Have

In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus feeds more than five thousand people with only five loaves and two fish.

Faced with a hungry crowd, the disciples see only what they lack. Jesus, however, takes their small offering, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to the disciples to distribute. Not only does everyone eat and have their fill, but twelve baskets of leftovers remain.

This miracle reminds us that God works through our willingness to share. We often feel that our time, talents, or resources are too limited to make a difference. Yet Jesus asks us to offer what we have with trust and generosity. When we place our gifts in His hands, He multiplies them in ways we could never imagine.

The feeding of the multitude also points us to the Eucharist. At every Mass, Jesus continues to feed us with the Bread of Life, strengthening us to live as His disciples. Nourished by His love, we are sent forth to bring hope, compassion, and generosity to our families, our parish, and our community.

As we reflect on this Gospel, may we ask ourselves:

What can I place in the hands of Jesus today? No gift offered in faith is ever too small for God to use for His glory and the good of others.
